Program Day at Valle Crucis Conference Center

Friday, October 2, 2009 - 10 AM - 3 PM -

Cost: $35, includes lunch

In the fourth Chapter of his letter to the Ephesians, Paul writes:

11 The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. 14 We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people's trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. 15 But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body's growth in building itself up in love.

As Christians we are called to be intentional about our individual growth into Christ, just as the Church is to be intentional about building up the Body and transforming the world.  What does it mean to grow up into Christ?  What are the tools we are called to use for this growth?  How can we help one another in this lifelong process?  Conversely, how can the corporate Church enable each part to work together properly and promote the Body’s growth?  What would spiritual maturity look like?

The day will focus on our seasons in this lifelong process of maturation as Christians as well as the journey of the Church.  Participants are urged to bring a Bible as well as a journal or notepad.  Format will be presentation, small and large group discussion, and individual reflection.
